Ex-news anchor, Spencer still an item, paper says
Princess Diana’s aristocrat brother Charles Spencer is often caricatured by British tabloids as a callous adulterer who has cashed in on his dead sister’s memory.
Yet still at his side is the dark-haired former Dayton news anchor Coleen Sullivan.
Sullivan, 34, who resigned from WDTN-TV in Dayton in late 2006, apparently met Spencer, 43, in February last year when she was in England on assignment doing a story about an exhibit on Diana at the Dayton Art Institute.
Although the pair has largely been ignored by the mainstream British media in recent months, it appears that the two are still an item.
Royal watchers at the Daily Mail newspaper in London say the couple recently spent a week in a lavish villa on the Spanish island of Majorca along with Spencer’s four children from his first marriage — Kitty, 16, twins Katya and Eliza, 15, and Louis, 13.
“As far as we’re aware, he’s still involved with Coleen,” said spokeswoman Alison George.
London’s Sunday Times newspaper also reported recently that Sullivan has been quietly staying with Spencer at Althorp, which has been home to the Spencer family since 1508 and is where Diana is buried.
Apparently Spencer and Sullivan also traveled together to California over the summer to visit Sullivan’s family. Spencer was roundly criticized in the media for leaving his last wife, Caroline Freud, for Sullivan just months after Freud gave birth to their second child. An acrimonious divorce was finalized earlier this year.
