Channel 4 Accused of Diana Photo Theft
One of the last pictures ever taken of the Princess Diana has been stolen from police files, according to the French photographer who took it.
Fabrice Chassery claims a picture depicting Diana slumped in the back seat of the black Mercedes which crashed in Paris in 1997 has been illegally lifted from files and reproduced without his permission.
Among those accused of reproducing the photo without permission are Channel 4 as well as US television network CBS and a French journalist who used it on the cover of a book.
Chassery’s lawyer Jean-Louis Pelletier says, “We are able to prove that this photograph belongs to Mr Chassery. There are people who are fraudulently using this photograph or duplicates of it.”
This year sees the tenth anniversary of the fatal crash and was marked with a memorial concert organised by Princes William and Harry earlier this month.
